MPHC Scholarship Program
MPHC is offering a $500 scholarship to
be awarded each year to a graduating Montana high-school
senior beginning in 2003.
This will be awarded to recognize
academic achievements and also his/her contributions as
per time, effort and participation spent to help the
MPHC in its events. Also the candidate's
contributions to their school and communities would be
considered.
Requirements:
a. Applicants must be a graduate of a Montana accredited
high school for
the year of the award.
b. Enrollment in an accredited college or university with a
minimum
of 12 hours, or considered full time.
c. Parents and applicant must be current members of the
MPHC as well
as for the previous two years
(Family membership with applicant
listed, or Youth membership)
d. Application must include:
1. Copy of high school
transcript
2. Three letters of
recommendation
3. Recent photo of applicant
and horse, okay for reproduction
4. An essay from the applicant
explaining why they should be
awarded the scholarship
5. Applicant must own or use a
Paint horse in shows or events
(includes trail riding)
e. Applications will be due to the Secretary of MPHC by
April 30
of the year of the award.
f. The Club will appoint a three-member
scholarship committee
who will make the final
decision by June 1 of said year.

Erica Edwards of Glasgow Awarded
the 2005 MPHC Youth Scholarship
Erica Edwards, daughter
of Lisa Baxter and Mike Edwards (both of
Glasgow), recently was awarded the 2005 Montana Paint
Horse Club Youth Scholarship in the amount
of $500.00. This award was presented July 9th at the
Circle L arena in Bozeman. Erica, who graduated this
May, is attending MSU Bozeman majoring in Nursing and
will also pursue higher education in Equine studies.
Erica has been active showing Paint Horses in 4-H,
Open and Breed shows for the past few years and also
was an American Paint Horse Association youth director
for two years. Erica is a member of the American
Paint Horse Association, the Montana, North Dakota,
Saskatchewan and Alberta Paint Horse Clubs, Ridge
Runners Saddle Club and the Northeast Montana Quarter
Horse Association.
